I have taught in many places, from a music festival in the mountains of North Carolina to a family church gathering in southern Indiana to just a few friends in my home to dancing on the beach in the Caribbean. No matter how big or small the group, the rare gift of truly connecting with others in a real and heartwarming way creates a magical space where we forget what we think we know about ourselves. We see and are seen by each other and move our bodies in a way that feels good and safe. In our often fast-paced lives, Yoga Meets Dance™ offers the opportunity to slow down, flow gently into the present moment and connect with the self and others. And, it is so FUN! My email is mgskow@gmail.com, and I am a massage therapist and yoga instructor in Northern California. Teaching Yoga Meets Dance™ in Israelby Yoga Meets Dance Instructor Rebecca Wolf I have been teaching Yoga Meets Dance at Ulpan Etzion for the past 5 months and I must say that it has been one of the most fulfilling things that I have ever done. Ulpan Etzion is an absorption and ulpan (intensive Hebrew classes) for new immigrants to Israel from all over the world. After teaching for several months, a permanent and consistent group of students has formed. I have students from Chile, South Africa, Russia, India, The Netherlands, and the United States. As new immigrants, they struggle to make their way and find their new lives in this new country – Israel. We open our hearts to one another by our movements and dance – together and apart. I notice that as the months pass, movements change from restricted and shy dances to open and crazy celebrations of life! "Rimona" from India tells me how lonely she feels being so far away from her friends and family. However, one day after class she shares with me that participating in Yoga Meets Dance has made her the happiest that she has been since she arrived in Israel. This class has become such an important part of my routine and identity. Not only do I love to dance freely to the music, but I feel so fulfilled in my ability to share this amazing experience with others! From Sedona to Israel, I have carried with me the ability to help people find themselves, dance freely, and open their hearts. My email is: beckywolf@gmail.com and I am a law student, currently teaching at NStreetVillage, a homeless shelter for women in Washington, DC. Teaching Yoga Meets Dance™ in Canadaby Yoga Meets Dance Instructor Jill Davey For me, teaching Yoga Meets Dance is an honour. I feel like I am taking people on a sacred journey. The structure provides just enough of a safe container to allow a sense of freedom and play. There is a beautiful consistency built into the flow of energy and movement through the elements. Each time we move through this flow it is a unique experience, at times joyful, playful, moving, silly, sensual, sacred. As a teacher, I have benefited as much as my students have. The alchemy of Yoga Meets Dance is powerful medicine to soothe the soul. My email is jileigh@freespace.net and I am a yoga instructor in Guelph, Canada. Yoga Meets Dance™ for Recoveryby Yoga Meets Dance Instructor Melayna I volunteer classes at Gilda's Club. Gilda's Club provides free support services for people with cancer and their families. Their love of music and movement is inspiring, and the look of joy on their faces is so beautiful to me. I came to this training having never taken a Yoga Meets Dance™ class or meeting Beth. My experience here was more than I expected. Beth is a warm-hearted and concise teacher. She made it easy to learn the material and imbued the class with many wonderful teachings on meditation and manifestation as well. I will be gaining insights from this course for months to come. I feel opened to life, potential and the Divine. My email is melayna@yahoo.com and I am a student in Detroit, Michigan. Teaching Yoga Meets Dance™ in St. Croix by Yoga Meets Dance Instructor Lucy Rosenblatt I attended my first Yoga Meets Dance™ class with instructor Matece Skow (Duncan) while on vacation in St. Croix. Deeply moved, I signed up for the Yoga Meets Dance™ teacher training in Kentucky in 2006. I have come full circle by recently leading a class in St. Croix, where I first experienced this transformational class. Matece attended and was very supportive. I had made a flyer and it posted on the bulletin board we were using for announcements. It was a glorious outdoor setting by the water. There were about 30 people- about 1/3 of them men. As I began I was a little nervous. I felt a surge of peace and joy that only increased as I saw others begin to relax and move into the experience. It only got better. Everything went very smoothly. I later heard from many of the participants about how moving and wonderful it was for them, and even how a few cried. Throughout the rest of the week people kept coming up to me and sharing how special it was: "I'm still glowing." "It was the highlight of the week." "If the whole world did this there would be peace." "Next year you have to do it every day." It was very rewarding to hear the feedback. My email is llrosenblatt@comcast.net and I am a psychotherapist, currently teaching in Connecticut. Yoga Meets Dance™ with Autistic Childrenby Yoga Meets Dance Instructor Donna Faught I was nervous because I had not taught in a while, but it all came back to me like riding a bicycle. I just led my first class for autistic children and their parents at NY for Autistic Children in New York. It has been a heart-warming experience for me. And they LOVE it! The parents and their children dance together. One boy actually started break dancing in the circle. Another boy really made nice eye contact with me during a special moment in the class, and his mother asked if I would do the class with just adults. I told her that was on my list! I am having a wonderful time knowing I can bring joy to this special population. I have a gift with children and love working with them. My email is sundonna@aol.com, and I am a real estate agent and a para-professional for children in Belle Harbor/Queens, NY. More Wonderful Testimonials "Beth is quite experienced in leading trainings, and all aspects of learning this method are clearly delivered. Layers of the class flow are broken down and brought back together as a cohesive whole in the training, and the class structure is thoughtfully designed. It is an ecstatic experience that always feels safe, non-invasive, gentle, and unique. I highly recommend this training to yoga teachers, dance teachers, anyone who works with the elderly, or mentally, physically, and emotionally challenged, as this fun and depthful class is for the mainstream and special populations." Kelly Jean, High School Teacher, Massachusetts. "I have learned a tremendous skill to share with my family, friends, community and the world." Donna, Dental Hygenist, Alaska "I came here thinking I was going to do yoga and dance but I received so much more. This class has set me on a journey of meaningful and mindful self-expression and I can now make a better difference in the world." Tori, Musician, Maine "Beth has been so inspiring and I am excited to share what I have learned at this training with people all over the world. I carry with me the loving, peaceful, and joyous spirit that Beth shares. Thank you!" Jessica, Yoga Teacher, California "The teachings were layered logically and practically. I feel confident to teach immediately. In all the educational programs I have completed, I've often felt lost at the end-- having been given theory without a grounding in what to do with it. Not so in this class. I also appreciate how Beth embodies what she teaches and how she has many stories from her own life to support what she shares." Jessica, Yoga Teacher, California "I learned much more than I expected. I have a new set of tools for instructing Yoga Meets Dance and for living a life which fulfills me deeply." Jody, Yoga Teacher, New Mexico "My experience at this training allowed me to put together the pieces of my career as a psychotherapist and movement therapist. I feel grounded and focussed. Thank you!" Patricia, Therapist, Mexico "Beth's classes enriched me daily. I feel confident and supported. The friendships I have made here will nourish my spirit for years to come."
