About Beth Yoga * Dance * Meditation * Massage Therapy Beth Rigby, Founder of Yoga Meets Dance™, is gifted with a profound sense of intuition and creativity in guiding classes for all levels. She directed filled-to-capacity programs at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health (the largest holistic center in North America), has been a featured instructor on the Inner Voyage Cruises in the Caribbean, and has taught over 2,000 yoga and movement classes since 1995 at hospitals, fitness centers, and yoga studios across the United States, Canada, and New Zealand for wheelchair patients, trauma survivors, corporate executives, and general mainstream populations. As a former secretary, Beth attended yoga for stress relief. Her formal holistic studies began at the Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Atlanta, where she trained in Neuromuscular, Swedish and Sports Clinical Massage in 1992. She then studied Therapeutic Touch, Reiki and other energy healing modalities. Just prior, Beth attended a Kundalini yoga class which left a profound effect on her. Beth began studying all forms of yoga, including Ashtanga, Kripalu, Kundalini, Iyengar and Integral throughout the 90s. Her movement experience began at age 7 with gymnastics and cheerleading which she was involved with for 10 years. Beth is a long-time student of Soto Zen meditation, and attended her first silent retreat at the Southern Dharma Retreat Center in Asheville with Cheri Huber where she received a glimpse at the connection of all life in 1994. Deeply moved by this experience, she rid herself of many possessions, and attended numerous retreats and trainings in yoga and meditation. Beth received certification to teach Kripalu Hatha Yoga and YogaDance in 1995, when she discovered she had natural teaching ability. She quickly became a Staff Instructor and Program Director at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, and received invites to teach around the United States and Canada. To further spread the healing joy of movement, Beth created an 11-day training course in Yoga Meets Dance™ in 2000 which she directs worldwide. In 2003, Beth met His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Sedona, AZ, and attended numerous breathwork and meditation courses with him in California and Bangalore, India at the Art of Living Ashram. Beth has a rare gift in leading transformational experiences which deeply nourish the body and soul, using gentle humor and compassion. Beth receives inspiration from Native American and Buddhist traditions, African dance and nature. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Poem * Articles * Massage Therapy Copyright 2001-2008 YogaMeetsDance.com.
